#Redefinition

I was asked by the organizers of Zimbabwe Fashion Showcase to write a spoken word piece to open up the fashion show. This is what I came up with :-)

#Redefinition 

Zimbabwe you have been redefined
By Zimbabwean designers far away from home with fresh eyes
There shining a light on new Africa
Redefining what it means to be unapologetically African in these new times
Through education, technology and fashion
These Zimbabwean designers have found there passion
By working with African fabrics telling a story to the whole world
About who they are, where they've come from and where there going 
Owning there own sense of style with pride
And owning their own brand that they devised
Zimbabwe you have been redefined
Even though we know your experiencing trials and tribulations
We must still not forget to celebrate the positives
For you have produced a great nation
This flag will be redefined by its people
A symbol of national resistance welcoming you to the new generation
Their simply asking you to listen, terera, lalela   
An old African proverb says...
"If you want to go fast, go alone
If you want to go far, go together"
Unity is strength lets come together to celebrate these Zimbabwean designers
Who inspire hope by creating pieces that are timeless, distinctive, modern, bold and righteous
Blessed be the land of Zimbabwe for you inspired this
Ngiyakuthanda Zimbabwe, ndinokuda Zimabawe, I love you Zimbabwe
For you have been redefined by us... The People!
